Collaboration
The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession.

I had the opportunity to be the president of Educators Rising for two semesters. In the spring semester of 2024, Educators Rising hosted a school supply drive for Williams Elementary School in Oakland, Maine. Through fundraising, we were able to raise about $475 to purchase various school supply items. This fits under this standard because I had the opportunity to collaborate with a local school. The supplies I was able to purchase for these students is going to support student learning and help families and teachers of the district by relieving them of any stress that may come with purchasing school supply products.

In the fall semester of 2024, Educators Rising hosted a Hygiene Drive for Waterville Senior High School in Waterville, Maine. Through fundraising, we were able to raise $400 in money donations and over $200 in product donations. Products were then purchased and donated. This fits under this standard because we once again were able to collaborate with a local school. This also supports student learning because of the theory of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Students basic needs (food, water, hygiene, etc.) need to be met before learning can occur. This will also help relieve families in the Waterville area be relieved of any financial stress that may come from purchasing these items.

Through the months of March and April of my student teaching, a local police officer came in once a week to read to the students. This is an example of collaborating with the community.
These are examples of plans that I did with my mentor and the other first grade teacher at the school I did my student teaching at. This is an example of collaborating with colleagues which is an important skill to have in many jobs, but specifically education
